Two-factor authentication or 2fa for short is a login method used by many videogames, apps, and websites. You can see the usage of this in more common areas like finance such as online banking accounts.

The way that it works and the usage of it is simple. You authenticate your account via either e-mail or using an authenticator app. You receive a code and enter it to enable 2fa on your account. Once you do this, you will be asked to enter a security code whenever you logging from a new device or after you haven’t been logged on for 30 days. Unlike most platforms uses 2fa, it’s a great feature to have instead of receiving a code every time you log in to your account.

On the other hand, think of a scenario like this, someone has gotten your password and they are planning to steal it. Once they try to log in to your account either website or the Epic Games Client, they won’t even be able to get to your account even if the password is correct. Because the system will automatically ask for a security code which can only be received via your registered e-mail or through the authenticator app as mentioned above.

So enabling it would be a wise choice and not only for the security of your account but you also get some free rewards in return just for enabling 2fa!
